DALLAS--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Diodes Incorporated (Nasdaq: DIOD), a leading global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality application specific standard products within the broad discrete and analog semiconductor markets, today announced that it has won the Environmental Award at the annual Elektra Awards' event held in Munich, Germany on the eve of Electronica 2008. Now in their sixth year, the Elektra Awards are regarded as the most prestigious electronic product, technology and business awards in Europe, recognizing the achievements of individuals and companies throughout the European Electronics industry.
For the Environmental Award category, Elektra invited companies to demonstrate how their business strategies are reducing the impact of their products, manufacturing process and commercial practices on the environment. The 20-strong independent panel of judges also looked for evidence of how good environmental practice has permeated across the company by being inclusive of staff at all levels of the organization.
Receiving the award on behalf of Diodes Incorporated, Vice President and Vice President of Europe Sales and Marketing, Colin Greene, said, "We're thrilled to receive this award as it really does recognize the incredible efforts of our Green Team: a volunteer group of employees, representative of the entire organization, with a real passion to see environmental objectives achieved."
"Diodes believes that one of the most important ways to achieve environmental recovery and sustainability is through the continuous drive of its people to improve the business's environmental performance. Through workforce engagement and ‘buy-in' to this vision, Diodes believes that it is achieving ‘world class' environmental performance."
Diodes' Elektra win follows hot on the heels of another award, the National Microelectronics Institute's Low-Power "Green" Design Award for 2008. The award was given to Diodes for its ZXGD3101T8 MOSFET rectifier controller. This product is the first in a new family of products that enable external power adapter designers to replace conventional Schottky diodes with surface-mount MOSFETs, resulting in higher efficiency, less heat generation, a reduction in adapter size and weight, and a simplification of overall circuit design.
