The "One Nation, One Subscription" (ONOS) scheme, as outlined in the article from News18, aims to revolutionize access to academic research in India by providing a unified subscription model for scholarly journals. This initiative, proposed by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), seeks to address the high costs and fragmented access to scientific literature which currently hampers research and education. Under ONOS, all Indian academic and research institutions would have access to a vast array of journals through a single subscription, significantly reducing costs and administrative overheads.
