University of Arizona software will be aboard NASA's SPHEREx to explore universe origins

The University of Arizona's Steward Observatory has developed software that will be used on NASA's upcoming SPHEREx mission, set to launch in 2025. This software will help in analyzing data to explore the origins of the universe by mapping the distribution of water and other key elements, as well as studying the cosmic history of galaxy formation. The mission aims to provide insights into the conditions of the early universe, the formation of galaxies, and the distribution of matter. The software, developed by a team led by Professor Dan Marrone, will process vast amounts of data to create detailed 3D maps of the universe, potentially revealing new information about the universe's expansion and the nature of dark energy.
