The article from the Dhaka Tribune reports that scientists at the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) and the Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA) have demanded action against the former Director General (DG) of the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute and Chairman of the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute and Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture Management Committee, Dr. Md Shahjahan Kabir. They allege that Dr. Kabir misused his power, engaged in financial irregularities, and committed other forms of corruption during his tenure. The scientists have submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Agriculture, and other relevant authorities, calling for an investigation into these allegations. They claim that Dr. Kabir's actions have not only damaged the institutes' reputation but also hindered research and development activities. The memorandum also highlights issues like the appointment of unqualified individuals, misuse of research funds, and the suppression of scientific dissent.
