The integration of autonomous agents, custom silicon, and a dominant cloud presence creates a vertically integrated stack that is difficult for competitors to replicate.
However, this path is not without risk. Regulatory scrutiny regarding AI monopolies and the ethical implications of autonomous labor replacement remain significant headwinds. Moreover, the massive capital expenditure required to build out the next generation of data centers puts pressure on free cash flow in the short term.
Despite these risks, the extrapolation of current trends suggests that Microsoft is successfully building a closed-loop system.
