* Global frame agreement commenced December 2012
* Tele2 to use Ericsson MINI-LINK microwave radio solutions across its European operations
* Professional support services and training will also be provided
Tele2 has signed a frame agreement with Ericsson (
Ericsson will provide Tele2 with its industry-leading MINI-LINK series of microwave radio solutions as well as professional support services and training.
Robert Puskaric, President of Region Northern Europe and Central Asia at Ericsson, says: "We have supplied MINI-LINK microwave products to Tele2 for several years and are pleased to be able to continue to support Tele2's expansion. Ericsson's MINI-LINK microwave product range will provide Tele2 with a future-proof solution that supports both older technologies, such as GSM and 3G, and large volumes of IP data traffic in next-generation LTE networks."
The widespread use of mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, has led to a dramatic increase in mobile network traffic.
One of the key features of Ericsson's MINI-LINK family of products is flexibility; they can be used both to create all-IP networks and in networks that are evolving from TDM to packet technology. The hybrid MINI-LINK TN and MINI-LINK CN can transport native Ethernet and native PDH (plesiochronous digital hierarchy) data over the same hop, which gives cost-effective migration from TDM to packet technology.
Ericsson is the microwave equipment market leader, having delivered more than 2.8 million microwave systems to more than 600 customers - including operators, governmental bodies and agencies - in more than 160 countries worldwide.
