Sigma Designs Announces Partnership With AOC to Incorporate Connected TV Chipset Into New Line of LED DTVs

Sigma's Pro-SXL SoC to Power AOC's 185i 185z and 154 Series of DTVs

SAO PAULO, BRAZIL--(Marketwire - Jul 31, 2012) - Sigma Designs (NASDAQ: [ SIGM ]), a leading provider of System-on-Chip (SoC) solutions for home entertainment connectivity and control, today announced that Digital Television (DTV) manufacturer, AOC, will debut a new line of DTVs for the LATAM market based on the Sigma Designs HiDTV Pro-SXL SoCs at the ABTA 2012 conference, taking place in Sao Paulo, Brazil July 31 - August 2, 2012. The Pro-SXL family DTV SoCs became an integral part of Sigma's portfolio through the recent acquisition of certain assets from Trident, and augments Sigma's existing line of media processing, home connectivity and home control products.

"AOC's new line of connected DTVs provide consumers with a high-quality multimedia viewing experience, and fingertip access to the latest Over-the-Top (OTT), interactive and cloud-based services including Ginga, Yahoo, and YouTube Leanback, among others," said Andre Romanon, Senior Product Manager at AOC. "We selected Sigma's Pro-SXL solution for this line because of its industry-leading picture-quality processing technology and built-in support for popular OTT services."

Three new lines of DTVs from AOC include the AOC 158i, 158z, 5520, 1320 and 154 series. The 158i series, available in 32"/42"/46" sizes, features a 120Hz LED panel, and supports OTT services such as Ginga, Yahoo, DLNA, YouTube Leanback. The 158z series has 46" size LED panel with 3D PR capability. The 5520 series, available in 32"/42" sizes, features a 60Hz LED panel, and supports OTT services such as Ginga, Yahoo, DLNA, and YouTube Leanback. The 1320, 156 & 154 series, targeted at budget-conscious consumers who don't wish to compromise picture quality, is available in a 26" 60Hz LED panel (154), 32" 60Hz LED panel (156) and 32/42" 60Hz CCFL panel (1320). All of the new AOC LED DTVs feature a super-slim form factor, and offer a cinema-quality viewing and sound experience.

Sigma offers two lines of DTV SoCs for the LATAM market, Pro-SXL and AXL. Pro-SXL is a perfect solution for high end Connected TVs, AXL serves the value line non-Connected TVs. Both devices are pin-out compatible to each other.
