STR Appoints Bernardo E. Alvarez to Lead Expansion Efforts in China

ENFIELD, Conn.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--STR Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: STRI) today announced the appointment of Bernardo E. Alvarez, 46, to the position of Director of Business Development a" STR Solar for the Peoplea™s Republic of China.

Mr. Alvarez has served as General Manager of Specialized Technology Resources Espaa, S.A., (STRE), Llanera, Asturias, Spain, since its inception in 2002. Prior to joining STRE, Mr. Alvarez was employed by multinational Rioglass, S.A., as a Plant Manager. Prior to Rioglass, Mr. Alvarez held professional positions of increasing responsibility in engineering and project management with INGEMAS, S.A., an engineering consulting firm specializing in the design and construction of turnkey production facilities in the Energy, Mining and Construction Materials Industries. Mr. Alvarez holds an advanced degree in Mining Engineering/Metallurgy from the University of Oviedo as well as a Masters Certificate in Business Administration from CECAP Asturias.

Mr. Alvarez and his family are expected to relocate to China by the end of 2010.
