New Digital Audio Engine ICs Expand Intersil's Leadership in Class-D Audio Amplifiers

The [ D2-41051-QR, D2-41151-QR, D2-45057-QR and D2-45157-QR ] are System-on-Chip (SoC) Class-D digital audio amplifiers that provide a complete, cost-effective audio solution for Flat Panel TV systems, PC multimedia speakers, portable device docking stations and many other high-volume consumer products. All of the devices provide a complete audio system, combining the industry's most powerful and efficient PWM audio controller with extensive integrated DSP processing and configurable audio processing algorithms. The D2-45057-QR and D2-45157-QR also incorporate four integrated power stages with support for a wide range of amplifier output configurations. They provide the industry's broadest feature set, highest amplifier efficiency and lowest system material cost.
The new DAE-4 products are built upon D2Audio's renown technology, and continue Intersil's global leadership in high-performance audio amplifiers. They will be demonstrated at the International CES 2010, Jan. 7-10, South Hall 1, Booth 21422.
Each device includes programmable equalizers, crossover filters, mixers, compressor/limiters and other audio processing blocks. Both devices support 2.0, 2.1 or bi-amp amplifier outputs, along with up to five channels of digital signal processing. For the D2-41051-QR and D2-41151-QR, peak power output is completely scalable with a wide range of supported full-bridge and half-bridge output stage configurations. Performance into an 8-ohm loudspeaker can achieve SNR > 110dB and THD+N < 0.2%. Audio signal path parameters are programmable, and include a stereo asynchronous sample rate converter (ASRC) along with device-specific audio enhancement processing algorithms. The ASRC feeds a 5-channel PWM engine mapped to the four integrated power stages as well as to the PWM output drive pins, which support additional channel combinations of line level or headphone outputs.
Additional audio enhancement algorithms are included within specific part number options of the devices including D2Audio SoundSuite™ WideSound™, DeepBass™, AudioAlign™ and ClearVoice™.
The D2-41151-QR and D2-45157-QR both also support SRS® WOW/HD™ audio enhancement technologies as options to the D2Audio SoundSuite technologies.
For the D2-45057-QR and D2-45157-QR, peak power output is 30W x 2 channels with a full-bridge output into an 8-ohm loudspeaker, with SNR > 108dB and THD+N < 1%.
Stereo I2S and S/PDIF digital audio input support, plus I2C and SPI serial control interfaces, enable designers to easily integrate the D2-45057-QR and the D2-45157-QR with existing system architectures and solutions. Signal flow is supported by D2Audio Canvas II™ software. Audio flow and processing options are easily modified within production environments, allowing multiple product models to be built using a single audio system architecture.
Pricing and Availability
Intersil's D2-41051-QR and D2-41151-QR are available now in 128-lead LQFN packages. Prices per 1,000 pieces start at $1.78 each. The D2-45047-QR and D2-45157-QR, which add the integrated power stages, come in 128-lead LQFN packages, with 1000-piece prices starting at 3.06.
