WARREN, NJ--(Marketwire - October 25, 2009) - [ ANADIGICS ], Inc. (NASDAQ: [ ANAD ]) today launched a new [ 4G power amplifier ] (PA) that delivers high output power, exceptional linearity and extremely high efficiency for [ mobile WiMAX ] applications in the 2.3-2.7 GHz spectrum. Developed for use in handsets, PC cards/dongles and embedded WiMAX modules, the [ AWT6264 ] enables high performance mobile devices that conform to the IEEE802.16e standard and maximizes battery life for mobile WiMAX applications.

As the first mobile broadband wireless standard to be made available commercially, WiMAX technology is the cornerstone of networks serving mobile subscribers around the world today. In a recent research report, [ Maravedis, Inc. ] estimates that the number of WiMAX subscribers will exceed 75 million by 2014. Furthermore, the report projects that more than 100 million mobile WiMAX enabled devices will ship in that same year.

Glenn Eswein, Director of Product Marketing for ANADIGICS, reports, "Global WiMAX roll-outs will dramatically increase the demand for broadband wireless subscriber products, with battery life being a key differentiator in the market. Our AWT6264 delivers industry-leading levels of power efficiency to manufacturers without compromising RF performance or operating bandwidth."

The wide 2.3-2.7 GHz operating bandwidth of the AWT6264 enables OEMs to serve multiple geographies with a single device. In addition, the 4mm x 4mm x 1mm device, which includes fully-matched RF ports, an integrated output power detector and an integrated step attenuator, supports faster product development cycles and requires less PC board space than more discrete solutions.

Joe Cozzarelli, Director of ANADIGICS' Wireless Infrastructure and WiMAX Product Development, adds, "This new power amplifier module offers +25dBm output power, together with the linearity and spectrum mask performance required by service providers operating in the 2.5 GHz spectrum. The performance of the AWT6264 enables a class of mobile devices that will provide the consumer with a rich wireless broadband experience."

AWT6264 Product Specs Highlights:

-- Operates in the 2.3-2.7 GHz spectrum (USA, Russia, Taiwan, Japan, S. Korea, Malaysia) -- Delivers +25dBm linear output power, meeting WiMAX spectrum mask and contributing typically 2.5% EVM -- Provides 30dB of RF gain -- Operates with a typical power-added efficiency of 24% -- Integrates a step attenuator and an output power detector
