International Datacasting Corporation: International Datacasting Corporation Wins Major Romanian Radio Contract
OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 11, 2009) - International Datacasting Corporation, (TSX:IDC) a global leader in providing advanced solutions for the distribution of broadband multimedia content via satellite, announced today its wholly owned subsidiary and European base of operations PROFline B.V., has been awarded a contract to provide a next generation satellite distribution network to SBS Broadcasting Media for the leading Romanian radio networks MagicFM and OneFM.
MagicFM and OneFM are part of SBS Radio, one of Europe's leading broadcasting groups. SBS Radio is comprised of 15 radio networks and 7 stand-alone networks in seven markets, making it the leading radio network in the Nordic region and expanding activities in Central Eastern Europe.
Both MagicFM and OneFM network will incorporate IDC's SuperFlex Pro Audio system comprising uplink/head-end equipment and the latest generation of the Company's DVB-S/S2 professional satellite radio receivers. The SuperFlex Pro Audio product line takes advantage of DVB-S/S2 technology to provide bandwidth savings of over 30% on satellite transponders and features Multi Channel Per Carrier (MCPC) operation and IP multicast for the delivery of multiple channels of content to radio broadcast stations. The technology also features MPEG4 High Efficiency - Advanced Audio Coding (HE-AAC) technology to provide the highest quality audio performance available in the market today.
The system uses Netmanager2, IDC's over-the-satellite network management system, to interface with and remotely control the SuperFlex Audio receivers. Able to control individual receivers, special groups and the entire network, Netmanager2 securely maintains and updates system configuration information.
"SBS Broadcasting Media has been operating the Flexroute system for MagicFM and OneFM for over a decade now. Selecting SuperFlex Pro Audio as the successor for Flexroute emphasizes our confidence in IDC and PROFline as a long term partner in radio broadcasting. The IDC Pro Audio system is perfect for MagicFM and OneFM as we go through our network upgrade and we are looking forward to working with IDC and PROFline on this project as well as the upgrade for KissFM next year" said Daniel Klinger, Technical Manager of SBS Broadcasting Media S.R.L.
"We are pleased and proud that SBS Broadcasting Media has selected IDC's Pro Audio products for their next generation network. This contract is an important win for our PROFline team as we continue to expand our presence in the Central European radio broadcast market," said Ron Clifton, IDC President and CEO.
