NASA has rediscovered a Cold War-era military base known as Camp Century, which was buried under Greenland's ice. Originally established in the 1960s as part of "Project Iceworm," the base was intended to house nuclear missiles but was abandoned due to the shifting ice. Recent studies using advanced ice-penetrating radar have located the remnants of the base, revealing that it has been preserved under the ice, which has moved it over 20 miles from its original location. This discovery not only provides insights into Cold War history but also raises concerns about the environmental impact of the base's nuclear and diesel waste, which was left behind when it was decommissioned.
