  • The university has positioned the innovation park as a hub to turn youthful creativity into opportunities for future industrialisation.

President William Ruto has launched the Sh4.7 billion University of Nairobi (UoN) Silicon Savannah Innovation Park, aimed at fostering research, innovation, and technology transfer. Located in the university's Upper Kabete campus, the park is designed to be a hub for startups, established companies, and researchers to collaborate on technology solutions. The initiative is part of a broader plan to transform Kenya into a knowledge-based economy, focusing on areas like agribusiness, health, engineering, and ICT. The park will also provide facilities for prototyping, product development, and commercialization, with the goal of nurturing an entrepreneurial ecosystem. The project is supported by a partnership between the government, UoN, and private sector players, with funding from the African Development Bank and the Kenyan government.
