UNAM makes list of top 100 universities for interdisciplinary science
- UNAM ranked No. 54 for the category on the famed Times Higher Education list, but it was the highest ranking for a Latin American university.
The article from Mexico News Daily discusses the University of Mexico (UNAM) being ranked 99th in the QS World University Rankings for 2024, marking a significant achievement as it is the first time UNAM has entered the top 100. This ranking places UNAM as the highest-ranked university in Mexico and among the top in Latin America, only behind the University of São Paulo. The QS rankings evaluate universities based on several criteria including academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio, and international student ratio. UNAM's improvement in the rankings is attributed to its strong performance in academic reputation and research impact, despite challenges like funding and infrastructure issues. The university's rector, Enrique Graue, expressed pride in the achievement, emphasizing the collective effort of the university community.
