Pepperdine University Partners with 2U, Inc. to Offer Two Online Degree Programs
MALIBU, Calif. and LANDOVER, Md., Jan. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- 2U, Inc. (NASDAQ: [ TWOU ]) today announced a new partnership with the Pepperdine University School of Law and the Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology to launch Law@Pepperdine, a new online master of legal studies (MLS), and Psychology@Pepperdine, a suite of online degrees in psychology.
"Pepperdine endeavors to evolve our programs to match a changing world. With these innovative new online programs, we provide access to a Pepperdine education to more people regardless of geography, furthering our university's mission to be a global, Christian university dedicated to preparing our graduates to be servant-minded leaders throughout the world," said Rick Marrs, Pepperdine University provost and chief academic officer. "With 2U's focus on quality and driving positive student outcomes, they are the right partner for Pepperdine."
"Pepperdine's entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to lead change in offering new forms of education will make this a winning partnership," said Chip Paucek, 2U CEO and cofounder. "It's our privilege to partner with Pepperdine and to support their commitment to academic excellence and their mission of transforming student lives through education."
Law@Pepperdine will be the first MLS program offered by Pepperdine Law, an American Bar Association-approved law school, and is designed for professionals in law-related fields. The program is intended for individuals who are not practicing lawyers but interact with the legal system on a regular basis and would benefit from an in-depth legal education.
Psychology@Pepperdine will offer a suite of degrees designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of the principles of psychology and to prepare them for professional endeavors in fields of psychology.
Both Law@Pepperdine and Psychology@Pepperdine will mirror the high quality and rigorous standards of the school's on-campus programs. The online programs will feature live, face-to-face online classes in an intimate seminar-style setting and engaging, interactive course content created by Pepperdine faculty and delivered through the 2U Platform. Both programs will also feature traditional, in-person immersive experiences on Pepperdine's campus along with applied learning experiences.
Law@Pepperdine and Psychology@Pepperdine are expected to launch fall 2017.
