  • Sri Lanka's President Anura Kumara Dissanayake arrived in New Delhi on Sunday on a 3-day State visit. He has a packed schedule, unlike his last visit around 10 months ago as a delegation head of his anti-India party NPP.

Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe is set to visit India on July 20-21, 2023, to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. This visit, his first to India since assuming the presidency, aims to strengthen bilateral ties amidst Sri Lanka's ongoing economic recovery efforts. The discussions are expected to focus on enhancing economic cooperation, trade, investment, and development projects, as well as addressing regional security issues. This visit underscores India's 'Neighbourhood First' policy and the SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) initiative, highlighting the strategic partnership between the two nations.
